Living environment
Narita city is a core city located about 70km east from Tokyo metropolitan area. This city’s area is 213.84km2.
Tone river, the second longest river in Japan, flows to the north, and there is Inbanuma lake, designated as a prefectural natural park, to the west. There are industrious sites, and several golf courses dotted, from north to east. The Narita International Airport locates to south.
In the center, Naritasan Shinsho-ji exists and attracts many believers. Also, especially in Narita area, Narita new town area, and Kozu area, over 60% of citizen lives, has various urban facilities such as administration, medical care, social welfare, commerce, and finance, that forms this city’s primary function.
Moreover, in Kozu area, the campus of International University of Health and Welfare (IUHW) is set up and its students, including international students spend their life for study.
From the above, this city has old town area around Naritasan Shinsho-ji, and new town area (Narita new town area, Kozu area, Wing tsuchiya area), so traditional aspect and international aspect harmonized in this city. Mayor is working on the city planning with the basic concept “good to live, good to work, and good to visit”.
