Business Environment

Kagawa Prefecture supports corporate activities with extensive transport networks of land, sea, and air that connects Shikoku with Honshu and the rest of the world. With its mild climate throughout the year and a low risk of natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis, Kagawa is an ideal location for implementing the business continuity plan. Many of Japan's leading companies in construction machinery, shipbuilding, automotive parts, and electrical machinery fields operate in Kagawa Prefecture. They have attracted numerous supporting businesses with advanced fundamental technologies, such as metal processing, molds, and welding. Large-scale plants for primary materials such as chemicals, coal, and nonferrous metals are located mainly in industrial sites in coastal areas. Also, there are clusters of food-related companies, such as frozen foods and seasonings, throughout the prefecture.

Manufacturing industry

The prefecture's strength lies in its well-balanced industrial structure. There are clusters of companies with fundamental manufacturing technologies and food-related companies, and large-scale plants for primary materials located in the coastal areas. By maintaining and advancing this structure, we aim to achieve a regional economy that generates higher-quality employment, economic ripple effects, and added value.

The plan includes a new urban hub suitable for globalization and computerization, enhanced sea and land transport terminals as the gateway to Shikoku Island, and the waterfront area capitalizing on the Seto Inland Sea's beautiful landscape dotted with islands and Tamamo Castle (Tamamo Park).
