Incorporating DX into the tourism sector, which innovates products, services and business models by using cutting-edge ICT, is an urgent issue for improving Japan's tourism competitiveness.
ICT is also expected to be used in AI analysis of crowd and traffic congestion at tourist spots, in response to social issues such as advanced hygiene management through non-contact services, in public relations and promotion of tourism to stimulate demand after the COVID-19 crisis subsides, as well as in improving the environment for accepting tourists toward the recovery of inbound tourism (multilingual support and free wi-fi at tourist sites, automation of passenger procedures at airports and seaports, introduction of tourism mobility, etc.).
Addressing food loss, environmentally friendly food and tableware, and the digitalization of supply chains are important for creating a sustainable society. We will work to promote the use of local resources by linking foreign companies with local Japanese companies that have innovative technologies in these areas.
