Arculus Solutions develops advanced ceramic thin-film coating technologies for pipes and pipelines. Its proprietary SputteredPipe(TM) technology applies an alumina-based protective layer to the internal surface of carbon steel pipes through magnetron sputtering, providing lifetime corrosion resistance. For new pipe inventories, the company offers deployable coating technology packages, while existing pipeline assets can be retrofitted in situ using the electromechanical SputterPig(TM) smart tool. The resulting thin film reduces surface roughness and friction, improving flow efficiency and lowering operating costs. The technology also enables existing pipelines to be repurposed for CO2 transportation and supports hydrogen blending in natural gas infrastructure. Built upon technology originally developed at MIT, Arculus is advancing practical solutions for decarbonized energy infrastructure and pipeline asset optimization.
