Uluuは、海藻を原料とした硬質プラスチックやポリエステル繊維の持続可能な代替素材として、ペレットを開発している。射出成形グレードのペレットは、強度、軽量性、防水性などプラスチックと同様の特性を持ち、生体適合性があり、堆肥化可能で、再生可能な方法で育てられたスケーラブルな原料から製造されている。包装材、家電、家具、自動車内装材などの硬質製品に使用可能で、既存の製造インフラにも容易に統合できる。社内にはプロトタイピングや顧客試験用の射出成形設備を備えている。現在、ポリエステルの代替となる繊維グレードのペレットも開発中であり、将来的にはフィルム、発泡材、コーティング材、3Dプリント用フィラメントなどへの応用も計画している。現在は、化粧品パッケージとファッションテキスタイルに注力している。

Uluu’s injection moulding-grade pellets act like plastic (strong, lightweight, waterproof) but are biocompatible, climate positive at scale, compostable and made from a regeneratively-grown, scalable feedstock. The pellets can be used to produce rigid products such as packaging, consumer electronics, furniture and car interiors. Their properties can be fine-tuned for customers, and they’re easily integrated into existing manufacturing infrastructure. Uluu also has in-house injection moulding capabilities for prototyping and customer trials. Uluu’s fibre-grade pellets are in development and show great potential for yarn production via melt spinning as a sustainable alternative to polyester textiles. In the future, Uluu plans to tackle using their material to produce films, foams, coatings, 3D printing filaments, and much more. Uluu is currently focused on packaging for cosmetics and textiles for fashion.
