Business Expanding MacDermid Performance Solutions Japan opens a new base in Nagoya

MacDermid Performance Solutions Japan K.K. , which manufactures, imports and exports, and sells surface treatment chemicals and other products, opened its second base in Japan, the Nagoya Laboratory, in February 2024, to better serve automotive parts manufacturers clustered in the Chubu region. Its full-scale operation is scheduled to begin after August 2024, when the installation of various testing and evaluation facilities is completed.

MacDermid Performance Solutions Japan K.K. was established in 1988 as the Japanese subsidiary of MacDermid, Inc. based in Connecticut, USA, whose main business is the manufacture, import and export, and sale of chemicals, and related equipment used in metal surface treatment such as plating. In order to strengthen customer development and R&D in Japan, the Japanese subsidiary's MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions division expanded its R&D facilities in its head office building in Hiratsuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture in 2020.

The company's plating technology is widely used for automobile interior and exterior parts and has been highly evaluated for its contribution to rust and corrosion prevention and quality improvement of decorative surfaces. In response to increasing demand in the automobile industry, the company opened a new base in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, with the aim of expanding its sales activities and various service systems in the Chubu region. The company will introduce various facilities to evaluate sustainable processes that will be in high demand in the future, such as alternative processes for regulated substances in Europe, in order to develop and improve new products and speed up customer service.
