Westwood Aerogel is an advanced materials startup that manufactures aerogels through a proprietary ambient drying process. Aerogels are among the lightest and most insulative materials available but are traditionally limited to high-value applications due to production bottlenecks. The company's scalable ambient drying process increases aerogel output while reducing energy consumption by up to 98% compared with standard methods, significantly lowering costs. Its first product, ZeroTherm, is an aerogel-based cell-to-cell thermal barrier for EV battery packs, designed to improve safety by mitigating thermal runaway risks and enhancing cold-temperature performance.
