Daihatsu Kyushu Co., Ltd. and many car assembly manufacturers and primary parts manufacturers have established operations in the northern part of Kyushu, making it one of Japan's leading automobile production bases. In Oita, numerous companies, such as parts suppliers, have entered the automobile-related industry.
Oita prefecture collaborates with the Oita Prefecture Automobile-Related Companies Association, car assembly companies, and primary parts companies to support businesses in the prefecture to improve their technological capabilities, expand businesses, and develop human resources.

Many major semiconductor manufacturers have established operations in the prefecture, and local companies have entered the back-end process of semiconductors and manufacturing equipment. Consequently, the region has become one of the largest clusters of semiconductor-related industries in Japan. We have established the Oita Prefectural LSI Cluster Formation Promotion Council through industry-academia-government collaboration. The food industry (food and beverages) accounts for the largest share of the manufacturing industry in Oita Prefecture in terms of both the number of business establishments and the number of employees.
The prefecture helps food processing businesses meet market needs from inside and outside the prefecture adequately by acquiring sales channels through support for the introduction of original HACCP, business matching, product development, and human resources development.
