Business ExpandingOkeanos Group, LLC., Aiming to Reduce Plastic Pollution and Carbon Emissions Through Its Patented Made From Stone™ Technology, Establishes Japanese Subsidiary in Tokyo

Okeanos Group, LLC. was established in 2019 in Florida, the US with the aim of developing technologies that reduce plastic usage at the material stage in response to the global challenge of plastic pollution. Since its founding, the company has focused on research and development of its patented materials technology, “Made From Stone™” (MFS), which uses calcium carbonate -the primary component of limestone- as its main raw material to significantly replace conventional petroleum-based plastics. Packaging materials and raw materials for daily consumer goods made using MFS technology are expected to reduce the amount of virgin plastic used in products as well as carbon dioxide emissions during the manufacturing process. In addition, by replacing a portion of petroleum-based raw materials with calcium carbonate, which can be supplied at low cost and with high supply stability, the technology is also expected to contribute to improved business sustainability. Furthermore, this technology offers a high level of compatibility with existing processing and manufacturing equipment, enabling its introduction without requiring significant modifications to current production lines.

The company operates multiple locations worldwide and has been expanding its business in the Asian market, including manufacturing capabilities available through established partnerships in Thailand and India, with additional Asian locations currently in development. Against this backdrop, Okeanos established its Japanese subsidiary, Okeanos Japan LLC, in Shinjuku, Tokyo, in January 2026 as a base for marketing and sales activities in Japan.

In connection with its entry into the Japanese market, the JETRO provided comprehensive support, including business-matching assistance with Japanese companies -such as participation support for the Innovation Leaders Summit (ILS), coordination of individual business meetings, and corporate introductions- as well as the provision of expert information, issuance of support certificates related to residency status procedures, and public-relations support. These efforts facilitated the company’s smooth market entry and business development in Japan.

Looking ahead, Okeanos plans to further accelerate business matching activities in Japan to strengthen its business foundation, while also considering the establishment of domestic production partnerships in the future.
