Enphase Energy is the top U.S. manufacturer of microinverters for residential solar power systems.

Enphase Energy, founded in 2006 in California, the US, is a global manufacturer of microinverters for solar power systems. The company provides solar solutions for residential and commercial applications, as well as energy storage systems. Since beginning mass production of the world’s first commercial microinverter in 2008, Enphase has rapidly expanded its market share in the U.S. residential solar sector. The company was listed on NASDAQ in 2012, further increasing its global recognition.

In addition to its headquarters, Enphase operates offices in Europe, Oceania, India and other regions. Having already conducted business with Japanese companies, Enphase established its Japanese subsidiary, Enphase Energy Japan, in Chiyoda, Tokyo, in September 2025 to strengthen relationships with existing domestic customers and expand its sales network in Japan. JETRO’s Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) supported the establishment of the Japan office by providing IBSC facilities.

In Japan, the adoption of distributed energy systems is accelerating, particularly with the mandate requiring solar power installations on new residential buildings in Tokyo starting in April 2025. Beginning with Tokyo, Enphase aims to expand its sales in both stand-alone and multi dwelling housing (PV system for individual units) nationwide, and its future business development is expected to contribute to the broader adoption of solar power across Japan.
