Founded in 1999 in Lyon, France, genOway is a biotechnology company that focuses on immuno-oncology and immunotherapy, providing customized preclinical models and scientific consulting services to pharmaceutical companies and academic institutions to enhance the success of drug discovery research. The company possesses world-class technological expertise in the field of genetically modified preclinical mouse models and has built a strong global track record based on its strength in improving the predictability of preclinical research.

Japan, the world’s third-largest preclinical research market after the United States and China, has long been an important market for genOway with an established customer base. Considering this, the company established its Japanese subsidiary, genOway Japan K.K., in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, in February 2026.

In establishing its Japan base, genOway received consultation support from the JETRO Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) on corporate incorporation-related matters, including registration, taxation, and labor affairs. Going forward, the company aims to engage in closer dialogue with Japanese customers and to broadly deliver the high scientific value that has already been recognized in the U.S. and European markets to Japan’s research and industrial communities. genOway is expected to contribute to the Japanese government’s key strategic goals of promoting innovation in the biotechnology sector and strengthening drug discovery capabilities.
