COFICAB is an automotive wire and cable manufacturer founded in Tunisia in 1992. The company offers a range of products, including high-voltage cables for electric vehicles (EVs), sensor cables for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and in-vehicle data communication cables, supporting next-generation mobility technologies such as electrification, connected vehicles, and autonomous driving. Today, with a global market share exceeding 23%, COFICAB has become one of the leading companies in the automotive cable industry, with operations across Europe, North America, and Asia.
The company's entry into Japan is believed to be driven by its aim to strengthen relationships with major Japanese automakers and automotive suppliers, while also responding to the growing trends of vehicle electrification and autonomous driving. As part of this business strategy, COFICAB established its Japanese subsidiary, Coficab Japan, in Nagoya, Aichi, in April 2024. Subsequently, COFICAB opened an office in Nagoya in May 2026 and has been strengthening its sales activities and customer support capabilities in Japan.
Head Office Building
In establishing its presence in Japan, the JETRO Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) provided comprehensive support, including consultations on company establishment procedures such as registration, visas, taxation, and labor matters; introductions to real estate agencies, banks, and recruitment firms; and temporary office space at the IBSC.
Going forward, COFICAB plans to strengthen its sales and customer support functions in Japan. The company's entry into the Japanese market is expected to expand access to advanced cable technologies and contribute to stronger supply chains for Japanese automakers and wire harness manufacturers. Furthermore, the company's presence is expected to support the advancement of electrification and connected vehicle technologies, enhancing the competitiveness of Japan's automotive industry.
