Courser of Woodland Ltd. was founded in Hong Kong in 2019 as a startup. The company sources and sells premium whisky and casks from Scotland and Japan, and offers innovative services such as providing digital ownership of casks through blockchain technology (NFTs). In June 2025, the company established its Japanese subsidiary, “Hayashi Co., Ltd.”, in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka, as a base for product development for overseas markets, ODM production, and procurement utilizing Japanese whisky. In collaboration with local partners, the company is now offering custom-manufactured, limited-edition items through their website.

In expanding its operations in Japan, JETRO’s Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) supported by arranging meetings with local government and introducing an administrative scrivener.

Looking ahead, the company plans to explore the utilization of vacant houses and warehouses, while advancing the development of its own branded whisky distillery and barrel storage facilities, launching distillery tour programs, and further developing immersive, stay-type experience facilities.
