Upstage was founded in 2020 by experts from the AI technology teams of Apple, Amazon, NVIDIA, and others. The company provides solutions that support the implementation and utilization of AI technologies, enabling industry-specific operational efficiency in sectors such as insurance, healthcare, finance, and manufacturing—even without specialized AI expertise. Notably, in the field of OCR, Upstage achieved first place in Kaggle, one of the world’s largest AI competitions, outperforming major global companies and showcasing its exceptional document processing capabilities.

In establishing its Japanese subsidiary, JETRO’s Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) provided a range of services, such as visa and incorporation consultations, introductions to financial institutions, and event participation support.
