Ironstar was founded in Melbourne, Australia, in 2018 and provides premium hosting services for websites built on Drupal. The company offers secure and reliable cloud infrastructure to medium-sized and large enterprises as well as government organizations. With a proven track record of serving Australian government agencies, Ironstar is known for its high reliability.

Through one of its business partners, the company learned about Nara City’s recent efforts to foster the Drupal ecosystem through community building, talent development programs, and the attraction of international conferences related to the open-source content management system (CMS) Drupal. Ironstar was also attracted by the city’s proactive business attraction initiatives, comprehensive support services, convenient access to the Kansai region, cost advantages for business operations, and high quality of life. As a result, the company determined that Nara City was an ideal location from which to expand into the Japanese market and strengthen international collaboration, and established its Japanese subsidiary, IRONSTAR JAPAN in Nara City in September 2025.

In establishing its Japanese base, Ironstar received support from the JETRO Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC), including the provision of meeting facilities and opportunities to meet with representatives of Nara City and related companies, helping facilitate the company’s establishment in Japan.
