The seminar

On May 22, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), in collaboration with the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), held a seminar titled "Indonesia–Japan Navigating Opportunities: IPO, FDI and Business insights for Startups and Enterprises" at ERIA Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Center (E-DISC) in Jakarta, Indonesia. This event aimed to encourage participating companies to enter the Japanese market and provide an opportunity for them to list on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE), and collected approximately 90 participants from startups, local venture capitals, support organizations, etc. in Indonesia. In the seminar, speakers shared their insights, from Traveloka that announced its plans to enter the Japanese market in April 2025 with the support of JETRO, as well as from JETRO, TSE, local venture capitals, etc.

Beomsu Son, Deputy Head of APAC, TSE Singapore, shared insights on the Japanese market in his opening remarks and highlighted TSE's robust support system for overseas companies looking to list on TSE. In 2024, TSE launched the "TSE Asia Startup HubExternal site: a new window will open" to support leading Asian companies aiming to list on the exchange. Son emphasized its potential as a top listing destination for Indonesian companies.

From Traveloka, President Caesar Indra delivered a speech. The company was founded in Indonesia in 2012 and now operates also in Japan, Australia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The company provides a one-stop travel booking platform, offering a comprehensive range of services including hotels, flights, activities, airport transportation, and car rentals. Their app has been downloaded 140 million times and has over 40 million monthly active users. Indra remarked that JETRO's support in their entering the Japanese market was greatly beneficial, especially of the consultation with an administrative scrivener and the travel industry market reports.

Since 2003, JETRO has supported more than 22,000 projects, helping overseas companies establish operations in Japan. We will continue to facilitate global companies' advancement into Japan.
