AITRICS, a medical AI company, was founded in Seoul, South Korea in 2016 by CEO Kwang Joon Kim, a practicing physician, with the aim of solving challenges he personally experienced in clinical settings.

The company develops and provides clinical decision support systems (CDSS) powered by AI technology. Its flagship product, AITRICS-VC, analyzes hospital electronic medical record (EMR) data in real time to predict critical conditions such as sepsis and cardiac arrest at an early stage. This technology has already been implemented in over 150 medical institutions across South Korea, contributing to improved clinical workflows and enhanced patient safety. In addition to VitalCare, AITRICS also develops solutions such as V.Doc, which enhance the accuracy of telemedicine. Anticipating the growing need for digital transformation, remote care, and solutions to workforce shortages in Japan’s healthcare sector, the company established its Japanese subsidiary in Chuo-ku, Tokyo in March 2025. The company is currently in the process of obtaining PMDA approval, and further partnerships with Japanese firms are expected in the near future.

JETRO’s Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) has supported AITRICS by arranging meetings with Japanese healthcare experts and medical device manufacturers, and facilitating collaborative development with Japanese companies.
