JEAP, short for the Japan Entry Acceleration Program, is built on the idea of turning bold visions into real opportunities. The program represents creativity without limits, fresh beginnings in Japan, and the energy to connect globally and grow faster.

With this spirit at its core, JEAP invites pioneering startups in decarbonization to join us in shaping a more sustainable future in Japan.

As part of JEAP, selected startups gain access to Japan’s business ecosystem — from tailored mentorship to collaboration opportunities with major Japanese companies (challenge owners) below. The program provides the support needed to accelerate market entry, co-creation, and growth in one of the world’s most advanced markets.

Program schedule for decarbonization program of JEAP. Applications open for decarbonization starts during October to early November 2025. Selection in November, and online workshops and mentoring as well as meetinigs with Japanese companies from December to February. An onsite Demo Day will be hold in Tokyo in late February 2026.

  • Kurita Water Industries leads Japan’s water treatment sector. The company seeks startups with solutions in algae cultivation and processing, food and solid waste carbonization, and GHGs capture and removal.

Location The program will be held mainly online, with the Demo Day taking place in person in Tokyo.
Eligibilities

    • Algae cultivation and processing
    • Carbonization of food residues and solid waste materials for upcycling into fuels and chemicals
    • GHGs capture and removal
    • Next-generation fuel production
    • Energy-efficient CO2 adsorption and desorption technologies
    • CO2 utilization and underground storage technologies
    • Water-soluble CCS: CO2 dissolution and brine well injection
    • Long-term energy storage
    • Extraction and separation of carbon from fossil-fuel combustion CO2 emissions

    Companies that are considering business expansion into Japan or have a concrete interest in the Japanese market.

    Companies must be able to commit to participating in multiple sessions of the program.

    Companies must be able to present at Demo Day in Japan and cooperate in related PR activities.

Program Content December 2025:
  • Workshops (Online): Practical sessions to deepen understanding of Japan's decarbonization market, policy landscape, and opportunities for collaboration.
January to February :
  • Mentoring (online): Tailored guidance from experts to refine business strategy, navigate regulations, and design partnership models in the energy and climate sector.
  • Collaboration Discussion (Online): Interactive sessions with Japanese corporates to explore potential collaboration based on their business challenges.
End of February:
  • Demo Day (onsite, Tokyo): Showcase your solutions to Japanese corporates and gain visibility among investors, ecosystem builders, and other key stakeholders.
Participation fee

Free of charge.

Note: Travel and accommodation expenses will be reimbursed according to JETRO’s internal regulations and budget limits. Expenses beyond the approved scope are not covered.
In the event of cancellation due to natural disasters, accidents, war, government restrictions, labor disputes, epidemics, or other force majeure events, JETRO will bear the relevant costs.
