Business Expanding Lange Medtech, a Chinese manufacturer and distributor of medical endoscopes and surgical instruments, establishes a Japanese subsidiary

Lange Medtech (hereinafter "Lange") is a medical device manufacturer established in Shanghai in 2012. The company researches, develops, manufactures, and sells general surgical instruments and surgical equipment that enable minimally invasive treatments in the fields of orthopedics and biomaterials. In particular, Lange provides high-precision medical devices as its solutions to patients with diseases in the areas of spine, joints, and sports medicine, as well as operating room personnel involved in the treatment of these diseases. In China, the company has partnerships with several university hospitals (e.g., hospitals affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine such as Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, Renji Hospital, and Shanghai Tongren Hospital) and other core hospitals.

As an important stepping stone for Lange's expansion into international markets, the company acquired a German company asap Endoscopic Products (hereinafter "asap") in December 2022, bringing it under Lange's umbrella with its high-end endoscopy product line and R&D capabilities. asap's products are endoscopic systems that have been developed in Germany over 25 years of research and development, and the company manufactures products that are applicable to almost all areas of endoscopic surgery (orthopedics, spine, surgery, gynecology, otolaryngology, urology, etc.).

With the integration of Lange and asap, Lange's strength in surgical instruments and asap's endoscopy-related products will be branded as a full line of products related to endoscopic treatment, developed and manufactured by virtually one new combined company.

The following year, in September 2023, Lange established "asap Lange Japan K.K." in Kobe City, as the first overseas branch of the Lange Group. After obtaining approvals for these product lines' registration from the authority for these product lines, the Japanese base will promote the products in the Japanese market as the sole Marketing Authorization Holder. Some of the products have already been approved the product registration.

When setting up the company's base in Japan, JETRO's Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) introduced service providers to assist with the process of obtaining Overseas Direct Investment (ODI) certificate, arranged meetings with local governments, introduced bank branches to open bank accounts, as well as tax accountant offices.
