N-SIDE has strong ambitions in the APAC market and in June 2023 started a major collaboration with Japan Electric Power Exchange (JEPX), who will use N-SIDE’s algorithm to determine the day-ahead electricity market prices and executed volumes in Japan (Note). Amidst a growing share of renewable energy sources, the algorithm will optimize supply and demand matching, ease the implementation of complex bid types, and enable the accommodation of a large number of market participants, ultimately supporting the sustainable growth of the Japanese energy market.

N-SIDE’s newly established Japanese subsidiary, N-SIDE K.K., will have its office in Toranomon and will start its operations on January 15, 2024 to better support its energy and life sciences customers in Japan and the greater APAC region. Headquartered in Belgium (Louvain-la-Neuve), the company also has an office in the US (Cambridge, MA) and customers throughout the US, India, and Europe.

To assist with setting up N-SIDE’s Japanese subsidiary, JETRO’s Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) provided temporary office space, referrals to local recruiting agencies, and assistance with PR.

  1. Note:

Day-ahead trading of electricity refers to the buying and selling of electricity on the day before the actual production and delivery.
