DAC is a technology that captures carbon dioxide in the air, and is attracting attention with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Founded in 2010, Global Thermostat (USA) has been working to promote the development and dissemination of DAC technology, with the goal of contributing to climate change measures and the development of a circular carbon economy. Global Thermostat Japan is its first overseas base.

Global Thermostat focuses on providing DAC units and detailed designs for each project according to customer needs. It has been working with companies and organizations throughout the world that are involved in CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) projects or CCUS (Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage) projects reusing captured carbon dioxide as a resource for synthetic fuels, construction materials, gases, or other uses. In addition, the company plans to work on building networks with a view to industry-government-academia collaboration including universities, research institutes, government agencies, as well as industries. In order to promote the social implementation of DAC in Japan, Global Thermostat Japan has already started sales activities as a Japanese corporation.

To assist with setting up the company's Japanese subsidiary, JETRO provided consultation regarding company establishment (registration) and introduced service providers (administrative scrivener and tax accountant).
