The Chinese headquarters has already developed and operated a system for simultaneous connection and control of multiple small-scale general-purpose robots and other devices in the same production line on the shop floor using a wired network. In Japan, the company plans to scale up the system using a local 5G network, the next-generation mobile communications system that is expected to launch in the spring of 2020. In November 2019, the company established a Japanese subsidiary, STEP JP K.K., in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, to conduct R&D of a system for smart factories, enabling simultaneous connection, information collection, and control of multiple production lines, and production control/shipping management software.

Upon establishing the company in Japan, JETRO's Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) introduced local governments and service providers (real estate agencies, certified legal specialists for company registration, tax accountants), and provided information on incentives and consulting (registration, tax).
