HOOMANO is a startup company that develops and sells software for making social robots capable of natural interaction with humans through artificial intelligence (AI). It was established in Lyon in 2014 and received a startup award from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes area in the category of AI in 2017. The company provides software for robot development companies in Korea (InnoplayLab), Japan (Softbank Robotics), China (Qihan) and Taiwan (Asus).
HOOMANO also began collaborating with LIRIS (Computer Science Laboratory for Image Processing and Information Systems) of the University of Lyon 1 in 2016. The startup took in a master in the AI sphere from LIRIS in 2017 and established the collaborative laboratory "Behaviors.ai" with LIRIS. They are working closely together in research and development toward incorporation of necessary algorithms into robot engines.
Utilizing the expertise in social robots it has cultivated in the European market so far, the company established HOOMANO Japan in Tokyo in April 2017 in order to expand business in the Japanese market by offering B-to-B consulting services, training and custom application development. It will develop business while also eyeing the possibility of conducting joint research and development with Japanese companies and universities.
To assist with the establishment of the company’s base in Japan, the JETRO Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) referred a recruitment agency.
