Latest Updates German manufacturer of special fuels for automobile engine development HCS Group establishes LLC in Yokohama
Apr 03, 2018
With the merger of the historic Haltermann AG (founded in 1898) and Petrochem Carless Ltd (founded in 1859, the same year when the Port of Yokohama formally opened to foreign trade with Western countries), Germany Corporate HCS Group GmbH was established in 2013. They have manufactured and sold various hydrocarbons in four areas: energy (oil and gas products), industrial products (thermal insulation and inks), life sciences (hydrocarbon solvents) and mobility (high-functional fuels for automobiles). HCS Group GmbH has bases in Germany (its headquarters in Frankfurt), France, the United Kingdom and the United States and their products are sold in more than 90 countries.
In Japan, they have accumulated a record of sales through trading channels and they established a limited liability company (LLC), Haltermann Carless Japan in Yokohama in September 2017 mainly aiming at strengthening sales of special petroleum products, such as certification fuels for verification testing of exhaust emissions regulations and initial filling fuel, toward automobile manufacturers. By establishing a business base in Yokohama, the first milestone in Asia, they aim to expand their business with Japanese companies in the future.
For the establishment of its LLC, JETRO’s Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) provided temporary office space in Yokohama and consultation such as on registration, taxation and labor matters. IBSC also provided advice on real estate and made referrals to local governments.
