Marquardt, a family-run company founded in 1925 and based in Rietheim-Weilheim, Germany, is one of the world's leading manufacturers of electromechanical and electronic switches and switching systems. The products of the mechatronics expert are used by many well-known customers in the automotive industry and include operating components, vehicle access, drive authorization and battery management systems. The company's systems are also used in household appliances, industrial applications, power tools and e-bikes. Marquardt Group employs more than 10,000 members of staff worldwide at its 19 locations in four continents. The company generated over € 1.2 billion sales revenue in the fiscal year 2017. Each year, Marquardt invests around 10 % of its revenues in research & development.
In April 2014, the Marquardt Group founded Marquardt Japan Co., Ltd. The office started in Tokyo operations in August 2016. In order to cultivate the customer's needs and to provide after-sales services, Marquardt maintains a range of departments supporting essential business functions such as sales, R&D and quality control divisions for automotive industry and power tools & truck/off road industries in 2018
For the establishment of its Japanese base, the JETRO Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) provided advice on incorporation, market information and introductions to service providers.
