Jun 20, 2018
Hefei Guoxuan High-Tech Power Energy Co., Ltd. is a lithium-ion battery manufacturer based in Heifei, Anhui, China. Since it was founded in 2006, the company has been manufacturing and selling high-quality lithium batteries for automobiles and energy storage systems (ESSs), with an annual production of 3.2 GWh in 2017. The company is also managing renewable energy (solar and wind) projects in China.
Hefei Guoxuan High-Tech Power Energy is developing business globally, expanding its market in North America and Southeast Asia through bases in the US and Singapore. In March 2017, in order to research and develop next-generation batteries and conduct sales promotion, they established Gotion Japan Co., Ltd., in Tsukuba, Ibaraki. They plan to employ around 30 people, enter the new energy vehicle (NEV) market in Japan, and do technical partnership with Japanese companies. The company decided to set up in Tsukuba, home to a concentration of research institutes such as the National Institute for Material Science (NIMS) and the University of Tsukuba, because it is "the perfect environment for a next-generation battery development base."
For the establishment of their Japanese base, the JETRO Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) provided consultation on incorporation and made referrals to service providers such as an administrative scrivener and tax accountant. IBSC also provided market information and made referrals to municipalities.
