Asia-Pacific Green Tech Forum
This forum was held in line with the main track of the "Green Device 2010" conference session in the afternoon of November 10, 2010. The main theme of this forum was promotion of collaboration among APEC economies in the field of Environment and New Energy, where we showcased various business models and success stories of foreign companiesf start-ups in Japan through collaborative partnerships with Japanese companies.
Forum Summary:
Chiba Prefectural governor, Mr. Kensaku Morita, endorsed this forum by presenting in a video at the opening of the session. JETRO chairman, Mr. Hayashi, delivered the opening remarks with a short overview of the forum. U.S. Embassy Minister-Counselor, Marc Wall, spoke of the possible effects that cross border investments will bring, such as increased employment, emerging new Clean Technology and shared prosperity.
Mr. Kuroda (Director, Trade and Investment Facilitation Division, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) spoke of the New Development Strategy conducted by the government, aiming for Japanfs success in the Asian Market, and promoting investment in the field of Green Technology. Mr. Kevin Yu (Director of Asia Pacific, Tesla Motors) introduced their business strategies and outlook on Japanese businesses.
5 panelists representing companies from the United States and Australia introduced successful models and their experiences of mutual collaboration with Japan. Key points and approaching tips for a successful partnership, mentioned by the speakers, were to identify the gaps of capability, to look for the commonality of purpose and understanding, and also to share opinions of each otherfs ultimate goals.
