Invest Japan Symposium in Singapore

On November 1st, JETRO co-organized an Invest Japan Symposium in Singapore, entitled "New Consumer Generation, New Opportunities", together with Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the International Enterprise Singapore.

Representatives from Singaporean companies that successfully entered Japan's lucrative consumer market discussed business opportunities in the country and highlighted features that make Japan such an appealing investment destination, including:

  1. Japan boasts one of the world's largest consumer markets and personal expenditure on services accounts for nearly 60% of total household spending. Younger generations, especially second generation baby-boomers now in their late 20s and early 30s, demonstrate diversified trends in consumption, in particular in services.
  2. Singaporean firms can exploit the diversity and modernity of Singapore's unique culture when developing products targeting the Japan market.
  3. Japan serves as an ideal test market for measuring the performance of new ideas and products, as Japanese consumers are typically eager to try the latest technologies, products and services.
