JETRO Global Connection at CEATEC 2019 with 36 companies from 15 countries and regions

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) is organizing JETRO Global Connection, where it will conduct business matching between international startups and Japanese companies, in the Co-Creation Park at the Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies (CEATEC) 2019. CEATEC is Japan's largest CPS/IoT-related trade fair and this year it is taking place from October 15 to 18, 2019 at Makuhari Messe. In addition to visiting the event, Japanese companies can use the event marketing service EventHub to apply for meet-ups directly to the overseas startups they are interested in.

In setting up JETRO Global Connection, JETRO selected about 180 promising startups that specialize in CEATEC's focus areas of mobility, health tech, and smart homes from around the world using our overseas network. From among them, 36 leading companies from 15 countries and regions have been chosen to participate in the event. The startups are from Israel, India, the UK, Estonia, Canada, Colombia, Singapore, Switzerland, China, Finland, France, the US, Portugal, Luxembourg and Taiwan. By field, 17 companies are involved in mobility, 12 in health tech and seven companies in smart homes. In addition to high-tech companies such as the ride-sharing solutions provider Via (US), powered exoskeleton developers FREE Bionics (Taiwan) and ExoAtlet (Luxembourg) and smart-home device provider Swidget (Canada), there will be a concentration of unique startups from Portugal, Colombia and other countries known for producing distinctive enterprises.

JETRO established an Innovation Promotion Division in April this year with the aim of strengthening business matching between Japanese companies working on open innovation and overseas companies such as startups. We will continue to actively develop these projects in the future.

CEATEC is one of the largest CPS/IoT-related trade fairs in Japan, and with the first fair in 2000, this year marks its 20th event. Over 750 companies will exhibit this year (according to the organizer), and it will be held using seven halls (Halls 2-8), an increase of one hall from last year. This will be JETRO’s third participation.

Exhibitors (overseas startups) at JETRO Global Connection will use EventHub, an event marketing service, to conduct meet-ups (business arrangements) with Japanese companies.
