From September 4 to 6, JETRO Chairman and CEO Nobuhiko Sasaki took part in the 5th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) held in Vladivostok, Russia.

He introduced JETRO’s activities at the Russia-Japan Business Roundtable, a breakout session to discuss cooperation between Russia and Japan, and signed a memorandum of cooperation (MOC) with CEO Andrey Slepnev of the Russian Export Center JSC (REC) .

Introduction of individual support for SMEs and activities for facilitating regional exchange

At the breakout session, Chairman Sasaki talked about JETRO's following activities for Russia:

  1. Providing individual support for SMEs
  2. Helping promote regional exchange

In addition, presentations on recent business activities in Russia were delivered by Japanese Economic Minister Hiroshige Seko, Russian Economic Development Minister Maksim Oreshkin and representatives from Russian and Japanese business circles.

Conclusion of MOC with REC

JETRO took the opportunity of the forum to conclude an MOC with the REC, which is assisting Russian companies in expanding business overseas. The two organizations worked together last December to convene a business seminar in Moscow for Japanese-affiliated companies in Russia to learn practical operations in exporting. Going forward, they will continue sharing experiences and knowledge and work together in activities such as seminars.
