JETRO innovation department promotes new business collaboration between Japan and the whole world. In particular, supporting Japanese startups who are interested to expand their businesses and collaborate with local overseas companies through programs and events participation with industry experts.

FOR JAPANESE STARTUPS

Global Acceleration Hub

Established in order to support the global expansion of Japanese startups in partnership with leading local accelerators in the advanced regions of the startup ecosystem around the world. With 30 acceleration hubs to date, this program provides assistance by providing latest information through programs, mentoring, feedback , and key connections.


Launched in 2020, the Global Acceleration Hub in Manila aims to support Japanese startups that intend to expand in the Philippines. In collaboration with accelerators, VCs, incubators, and other, the Manila hub offers three main services to Japanese startups. These are:

  • • Briefing about Philippine startup ecosystem
  • • Mentoring with Accelerators, VC, and so on
  • • Introduction of business partner and investors

Innovation Event Participation: IGNITE

A premier international innovation conference by TechShake, Dentsu X, and Brainsparks, IGNITE PH promote collaboration through innovation. It aims to connect the vibrant and flourishing startup ecosystem in the Philippines to the world, and also envisions to bridge the gap and create global opportunities for the Philippine innovation industry. Supporting this purpose, JETRO serve as a partner to this event.

JETRO Manila drew up "Phillines Innovation Ecosystem Report 2024" with our partner, TechShake. This report provides an overview of the innovation ecosystem, rising startups, VCs and other innovation supporters, and conglomerates information in the Philippines.

FOR PHILIPPINE STARTUPS

J-Bridge

 

J-Bridge is a business platform to facilitate collaboration between Japanese and overseas companies. The goal of the program is to promote cooperation between Japanese Companies and Overseas Startups for development of new businesses through Business Alliance (technical cooperation, R&D, M&A) and Capital Alliance (Investment, JV). 

 

Opportunities for Overseas Startups

1) COMPANY INTRODUCTION – Company information will be shared with J-Bridge members (Japanese companies). This will be uploaded to the portal site of J-Bridge members.

2) MEET-UP SERVICE- Foreign startups/companies can have access to the Japanese Partner Finder web page which contains information on Japanese companies interested in collaboration. Startups may also request meeting arrangements through this web page.

3) INVITATION TO EVENTS – Foreign Startups can find information on different JETRO events on digital transformation and open innovation. Startups may also have opportunity to attend seminars and business pitches.

4) SUPPORT FOR ENTERING JAPANESE MARKET- JETRO can serve as the contact point to Japan and can provide support for business development, including initial support for entering Japanese Market (please see Invest Japan section for more information)
