The Overview of the Seminar

As a government related agency, JETRO’s focus is not limited on the development of the Japanese economy and society only; but also focus on protecting Japanese companies’ intellectual property rights in order to do business effectively in Japan and also abroad. We have dispatched Japanese IPR holders’ missions to ASEAN countries every year; and have an event entitled “Intellectual Property Right Seminar – How to Distinguish Counterfeit Products” in each country. This year, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), JETRO and also the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism (MDTCC); the seminar was held in Malaysia on December 5, 2017. It’s intend to provide an opportunity for Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism (MDTCC) and also Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMC) officers’ to deepen their understanding of points to look out in detecting counterfeit products of Japanese IPR holders’ brands and to further strengthen the seizures of counterfeit products in Malaysia for MDTCC, Customs and other IPR related government officials.
