Ogawa Industry Co., Ltd.: Building a New Production Base in Mexico

Ogawa Industry, founded in 1939, is an SME which manufactures and sells high-precision metal parts for automobiles and construction. In line with the trend of localizing production and parts procurement in the automobile industry, the company decided to follow its operation in China by establishing a new production site in Mexico, a country in the midst of a rush in inbound foreign direct investment. As soon as it began moving forward, the renegotiation of NAFTA was announced. To accommodate changes in the business environment, the company began reviewing its business strategy in cooperation with a JETRO Partner. We introduce the actions they took to reduce investment risk and shorten the preparatory period for the new production base.
