Japan’s Fast-Growing Innovation Community to Showcase a Record Number of Startups at CES

Innovators with solutions for Japan’s ‘super-aging society’ will map out their visions at the live Japan Session during the trade show.
TOKYO (Dec. 22, 2020) – The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) announced that 51 technology startups will join global technology leaders in representing Japan at CES 2021, which will take place virtually from Jan. 11-14, 2021. The number of Japanese startups exhibiting at the J-Startup Pavilion, which JETRO organizes, has nearly doubled from a year ago amid the country’s growing focus on the innovation economy. During the 2021 trade show, JETRO will also host a live online broadcast event, “Japan Session: Transforming the Super Aging Society into a Super Smart Society,” in which some startup founders will share their breakthrough technologies and visions of a thriving world that is barrier-free for all.

The J-Startup companies encompass a spectrum of product categories, including AI, health, wearables, robotics, IoT, smart home, transportation, blockchain, energy, and space tech, as well as anti-coronavirus technologies. The company names and their website addresses can be found in the J-Startup List attached. The J-Startup 2021 website to be launched on Dec. 22 will provide a sneak-peek preview of the exhibit, followed by the release of a searchable company list with detailed product descriptions and videos on the same website during the week of Jan. 4.

About J-Startup
J-Startup is a startup support program that the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) launched in 2018 to boost innovation activities and help promising startups compete globally. Operated collaboratively by JETRO, METI and some other public agencies, the program provides 139 startups that are chosen through a rigorous selection process with various financial and educational support and connects them with a global network of resources.
