Chairman Ishiguro Attends Japan–Uzbekistan Roundtable

On December 19, JETRO Chairman Ishiguro Norihiko attended the “Japan–Uzbekistan Roundtable” held in Tokyo (organized by the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan; co-organized by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and JETRO).

The roundtable, co-chaired by H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Akazawa Ryosei, brought together about 120 representatives from Japanese companies operating in Uzbekistan for a dialogue with the President.

During the dialogue session, Chairman Ishiguro introduced JETRO’s recent initiatives in Uzbekistan, including dispatching an IT mission (February 2025), participating in ICT Week (September 2025), and disseminating business information for Japanese companies. He also expressed JETRO’s commitment to expanding the scope of Japanese firms entering the Uzbek market. In response, President Mirziyoyev expressed his appreciation and pledged his support for the implementation of these projects.

Following the dialogue, several cooperation documents signed between Japanese and Uzbek organizations were presented in the presence of President Mirziyoyev and Minister Akazawa.
