Participation in Joint Meeting of Japan-Uzbekistan Economic Committees

On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, the 16th Joint Meeting of Japan-Uzbekistan Economic Committees (hosted by the Japan-Uzbekistan Economic Committee, the Japan Association for Trade with Russia and NIS (ROTOBO) and the Uzbekistan-Japan Economic Committee) was held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. In the midst of the gathering of public and private sector officials from Japan and Uzbekistan, JETRO Chairman Sasaki Nobuhiko took the stage to address as the guest of honor.

Chairman Sasaki pointed out that reforms by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev have steadily improved the business environment and expressed his commitment to revitalize business exchange between Japan and Uzbekistan.

At the meeting, the Uzbek side highlighted the results of reforms implemented since President Mirziyoyev took office and the attractiveness of the investment climate and introduced its emerging IT industry.

The Japanese side expressed interest in renewable energy and decarbonization business in Uzbekistan, which will be an issue for the country in the future as it seeks to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
