【Webinar】14th Regional Ecosystem Seminar

“Promoting the Formation of an Offshore Wind Power Ecosystem and Revitalizing Domestic Industry through Global Collaboration”

To achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, offshore wind power, one of the next-generation energy sources, is being recognized as a vital solution. The government plans to develop 10 GW of projects by 2030 and 30–45 GW by 2040, which would significantly increase the share of renewable energy.
As international development progresses, Japan is advancing initiatives for future expansion. Strengthening the industrial base and advancing international collaboration are crucial. How can Japan integrate the evolving global offshore wind ecosystem to revitalize its regional industries and supply chains? The answer lies in collaboration between local governments, companies, and overseas partners.

This seminar welcomes Ikari, Mr. Mototsugu Ikari, the General Manager of International Alliance Department at Floating Offshore Wind Technology Research Association (FLOWRA), who will present on the global frontiers of offshore wind supply chain formation. Furthermore, four local governments—Muroran City (Hokkaido), Kitakyushu City (Fukuoka Prefecture), Chiba Prefecture, and Akita City—will introduce their respective regional initiatives. The latter half will feature a panel discussion with representatives, based on a case study from Akita Prefecture where local governments and private companies established collaborative relationships with Dutch firms.

We invite you to participate in this opportunity to explore hints for the next stage of growth, examining global trends and Japan's potential.
