OVERVIEW

The Jconnect Webinar Series was created by JETRO to introduce innovation from American startups to global Japanese corporations, and to help facilitate business relationships between them. The Jconnect series will feature different topics among advanced technology industry segments including artificial intelligence, IoT, mobility, Industry 4.0, robotics, health tech, and more. The focus of our next webinar will be on the topic of 'AgTech/FoodTech'. We will explore how three Midwestern companies from America's heartland are developing innovative solutions through genomics, bioinformatics, and real-time predictive analytics to transform the agriculture industry and global food supply chain, as well as a fungi protein first identified from geothermal hot springs and now being produced as an alternative to meat and dairy. This event will take place in English. The webinar recording can be watched live or viewed at a later time by registered attendees only.

SPEAKERS

  • Canomiks is the first technology company using a genomics, bioinformatics, and AI-based technology platform to test and certify biological efficacy and safety of ingredients and formulations. Using its genomics, bioinformatics, and AI-based product superiority platform built on exclusive IP and groundbreaking technology, Canomiks is transforming the functional food and beverage and dietary supplement industry, allowing customers to differentiate themselves with sophisticated, science-based products for health conscious consumers.

  • Agrograph is a global platform for field-scale predictive modeling that delivers accurate and timely information on crop yields, land suitability, risk management and other agricultural production information. Much like FICO reshaped the financial industry with its personal credit scores, Agrograph created the credit score of agriculture, or Ag Risk Score (AGROSTM), which is an objective baseline for standardized farm-to-farm creditworthiness for use by crop insurers, lenders and others that is data-driven and scalable.

Nature’s Fynd is a Chicago-based food company creating versatile alternative proteins for meat-free and dairy-free foods to nourish the world’s growing population while nurturing the planet. Born out of research conducted for NASA on microbes with origins in Yellowstone National Park, the company’s breakthrough fermentation technology grows Fy™. Fy is a new-to-the-world nutritional fungi protein that uses only a fraction of the resources required by traditional agriculture. Nature’s Fynd achieved unicorn status in July after raising $350 million in Series C funding led by SoftBank.
