JETRO MOU With the Massachusetts Office (2014-06-11)

Boston, MA – On June 11th, 2014, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment (MOITI) to forge a partnership agreement to provide support between Japan and the State of Massachusetts. The signing of the MOU will be a first of its kind between JETRO and a US State Government. Under the agreement, trade and investment from Japanese companies entering the State of Massachusetts and foreign direct investment to Japan by Massachusetts based companies will be supported by JETRO and MOITI.

Outline of the MOU:

  1. Enhancing dialogue and facilitate business opportunities by supporting events such as trade event, seminars, and trade missions
  2. Sharing information, providing introduction, and promoting business collaboration
  3. Promotion of inward and outward investment by both parties
  4. Development of partnership between key innovation-economy sectors of both countries
  5. Encourage cooperation between Japanese and Massachusetts companies in third countries
  6. Sharing information on activity plans and best practices for trade promotion activities
  7. Cross promotion of activities through public relation and other services

Chairman Hiroyuki Ishige of JETRO visited Boston and met with Governor Deval Patrick of the State of Massachusetts to sign the MOU.

JETRO and Massachusetts signed a memorandum of understanding, which is our first one with the U.S., to strengthen our business partnership.
