The founder of Kashiwa kiln, Hisayuki Iwatsuki, is also one of them and established a workshop in 1965. He exhibited his craft products at Japanese exhibitions and galleries. Moreover, he started exporting craft products to Western countries. However, due to the rapid appreciation of yen (Japanese currency) after Plaza Accord in 1985, kilns around Japan including Seto were extinguished one after another. Fortunately for us, our kiln survived by focusing on domestic products that made use of the casting method and continued to light the flame of the kiln. In 2006, Hisato Iwatsuki was appointed as the second generation. Today, we are mainly making characterful animal ornaments that is in the taste of the Japanese and focusing on the development of simple tableware. We use clay mined in Seto, and continue to maintain the same manufacturing method as at that time by applying a unique blend of clay and glaze. Thus, we are making Scandinavian products that are sympathetic to the customer's taste.iwatsuki Inc.114WEBVase Plant relief type: round size: small@kashiwagama_setoInstagramAICHIOnigawara tissue case(Glaring face)ONIFUKU Co., Ltd. https://www.onifuku.com/116WEB@onifuku_ibushiginInstagramAICHIOnifuku Co., Ltd. has been manufacturing and selling onigawara on the roof as a specialty store of handmade onigawara since its establishment in 1916 in Sanshu (Nishi Mikawa district, Aichi prefecture), the largest roof tile producing area in Japan. We have been involved in the restoration of onigawara, the production of similar onigawara, and the particular onigawara of ordinary houses. Our past achievements in roofing materials include Naritasan ShinshojiSanmon (1980), Izumo Taisha Soreiden (1985), and Eiheiji Nagoya Betsuin Main Hall (2016).However, the chances of using Onigawara in Japanese houses have dropped sharply, due to changes in Japanese architectural style. In order to preserve the culture of onigawara on the roof for posterity, this work must be maintained and developed as a business.Against this background, we decided to expand our business domain.Of course, as always, we will continue to make onigawara as a roofing material. We aim to expand the use of Onigawara, not only in the conventional field but also in a wider range, through collaboration with people from various fields. It is very difficult to revive the technology and culture that was once lost. In order to leave what we need to keep, we use materials and technologies to propose new products that fit the modern lifestyle. We believe that such activities will lead to the maintenance and inheritance of traditions, and will contribute to HAPPY in the world as much as possible.29Chubu
