Business Expanding Navigil, a Finnish developer and provider of wristwatch-type wearable devices for the elderly, establishes a Japanese subsidiary in Yokohama

Founded in Finland in 2010, Navigil Ltd. is a provider of telecare services using wristwatch-type wearable devices. It has subsidiaries in Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, and the United States and provides services in 30 countries worldwide.

The company has developed white-label, wristwatch-type wearable devices for the elderly, which its customers sell as their own brands, with the aim of enabling the elderly with dementia and those who require nursing care continue to live with peace of mind in their familiar neighborhoods, as well as reducing the serious shortage of nursing care personnel and the burden on caregivers.

This product can measure pulse and respiration rates, detect falls, and make emergency calls to caregivers with one press of a button. The system uses GPS outdoors and BLE beacons indoors to determine the wearer’s location, and automatically sends an alarm to the caregiver when the wearer leaves the preset safety zone, allowing the wearer’s condition to be monitored and managed remotely. The system also supports the lives of active seniors (active elderly people) who live alone, by avoiding complicated operations and allowing them to ask family members or caregiver for help with one press of a button in case of emergency.

In July 2020, Navigil Japan Ltd. was established in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture for the purpose of developing its services in Japan. The company will enter the market in full-scale from 2023, aiming to build a sales and support system and expand the scale of production.
