The Suwa Region in Nagano Prefecture has grown into a centre of suppliers with high-precision technologies in Japan who provide leading manufacturers with computer and electronic components, automotive parts, semiconductor processing equipment, and optical devices.

The area is currently home to manufacturing bases for Kyocera and Olympus, and also is home to head offices of Seiko Epson and Nidec Sanyo among others.
A total of more than 2,000 small-to-medium sized manufacturers form a broad-based supporting industry in the area.

The fair began in 2002 as a community based trade show for corporations within the area to share processing technologies and exchange information.
