"Biological products & service marketplace" in fiscal 2010 rose 4.5%, or by about 2.43 trillion yen compared to the previous year, in particular the market for products created through genetic engineering technology increased by nearly 1.5 trillion yen, or 7.2% compared to the previous year. Despite current economic stagnation, the biotechnology industry continues to grow. It is firmly incorporated into Japan’s national growth strategy.
