About Us

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) is a non-profit organization that works to promote mutual trade and investment between Japan and the world.

Originally established in 1958 to promote Japanese exports abroad, JETRO's core focus in the 21st century has shifted towards helping small to medium size Japanese firms maximize their global export potential.

JETRO has 8 offices in Africa namely; Nairobi, Johannesburg, Lagos, Abidjan, Addis Ababa, Maputo, Rabat, and Cairo. JETRO has employed approximately 1,788 staff members in 2019.

JETRO-Nairobi is a regional office that covers the countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Eritrea, Seychelles, South Sudan and Somalia.
