"Japanese Cuisine Session" cooking workshop in Tel-Aviv

Jan 20, 2011

Since the 1990's Sushi became very popular in Israel.
Today over 100 restaurants serve Sushi and it became a synonym for "Japanese food".

In order to expose the people in Israel to the other varieties of the Japanese cuisine,
JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) held a short cooking workshop on January 18 (Tuesday) in Tel-Aviv.

Ms.Aya Imatani, the Chef of Yamatoya of Japanese restaurant in Hod Hasharon, introduced and cooked three Japanese dishes, using simple and accessible ingredients.
The dishes included Agedashi Tofu, Tuna Tartar and Chicken Namban. (See here for more details)

Among the guests of this workshop, were well known chefs, leading food and lifestyle writers and major importers of food products.
The participants of the workshop were impressed by the unfamiliar Japanese dishes which were cooked using unique technics and yet suited the Israeli taste.

JETRO is planning to have another cooking workshop soon.
