Since the mid of 1990’s, the Japanese food became very trendy in Israel. Recently, the number of Sushi-serving restaurants only in Tel-Aviv is exceeded 100 places. Yet, the variety of Sake in Israel remains poor. In order to expose the Israeli consumer to the wide flavors of Sake, JETRO Tel-Aviv and the Embassy of Japan in Israel held a Sake tasting event.

The participants were tasted local Sake that provided by brewers in Akita, Miyagi, Niigata, Ishikawa, Fukui and Tottori prefectures.

Mr. Gal Yaniv, beverage consultant said: “Israeli customers will spend thousands of Shekels on a bottle of Champagne in a restaurant. This fact should convince us that there is no reason for them to spend good money on quality Sake”.

Another tasting event was held in I.M.T.M 2008 To other siteon February 5th at Tel-Aviv Fairground.
