Established in 1868, we are a distillery specializing in shochu for 150 years. In addition to using the traditional three-step preparation for fermentation mash, our distillation equipment, which has been passed on for generations, includes a one-of-a-kind 12m tall vertical hand press. We use plenty of high-quality two-row barley, and ferment it at a low temperature with care and attention. Our shochu has a mild taste with a fresh aftertaste and notes of a sweet vanilla aroma. Just one taste invites you to while away the precious moments and savor the next sip.

In Japanese, drinking ten cups is known as “Toppai.” This shochu was so named because an old folk tale says that gods dwell in the 10th cup. This is the flagship product of Minami Shuzo which has been a strong favorite for many years. It is habitually enjoyed by everyone with “Toppai mania” - those who only drink Toppai! It has a crisp taste and pairs well with any dish. One of the simple pleasures in your daily life and second place winner in the shochu division of the CINVE 2019 International Sake Contest in Spain.

“KINOYA” is made using scrupulously selected fermentation mash, and then aged for a long time after rough filtration. It is ranked highly even in comparison to other brands of shochu from Minami Shuzo. The syrupy texture inspires a contented sigh. The all-natural sweet aroma is faintly reminiscent of candy. Try it straight first to fully experience the aroma and flavor. Notably, this shochu took first prize in the shochu division of the CINVE 2019 International Sake Contest in Spain.

Seki horse mackerel and Seki mackerel are high-quality fish caught locally in Oita Prefecture. Delicious shochu complements Seki fish dishes and this perfect pairing was inspired by the palates of traditional single-hook fishermen from Saganoseki. Thus, “SEKI NO SHITA” (Seki’s Tongue) is a truly fisherman-endorsed shochu. The bitter taste and mild barley aroma pair well with fish dishes such as sushi.
