JETRO Joins Japan Innovation Campus Project to Support Japanese Startups in Silicon Valley

Apr 01, 2024

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) is pleased to announce its participation in Japan Innovation Campus (JIC) project, dedicated to supporting Japanese startups in Silicon Valley. Starting in April 2024, JETRO will collaborate on this project, which has been led by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan and managed by Mori Building Co., Ltd since November 2023.

JIC serves as a nexus of the startup ecosystem in Japan and the U.S., aiming to support the overseas expansion of Japanese startups by providing a dedicated space in the heart of Silicon Valley, Palo Alto. With JETRO's involvement, JIC will further enhance support for Japanese startups and strengthen its functions as a hub for all participants, including local startups, investors, mentors, and corporate partners.

As part of this collaboration, JETRO will facilitate events and workshops at Japan Innovation Campus, offering valuable insights and connections to its member startups and other participants. Additionally, JETRO will provide tailored business development support services for Japanese startups.

"We are excited to join this groundbreaking project," said Yotetsu Hayashi, Chief Executive Director of JETRO San Francisco. “The overall goal is to make this Campus a hub for the exchange of ideas and information, including the latest cutting-edge technologies from Japan. This will create a stronger connection between the Japanese innovation ecosystem and Silicon Valley. This project has been made possible through the efforts of many involved people, and we hope that our participation will accelerate this project to form a broader network and provide meaningful support for startups.”

Partnering with Mori Building and METI, JETRO seeks to strengthen JIC as the bridge between Japanese innovation and the vibrant startup community in Silicon Valley.
