In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Republic of Mozambique, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) once again commits its efforts of promoting investment into Mozambique.

JETRO is a government-related organization that works to promote mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world and as a sub-Saharan region representative office, JETRO Johannesburg views Mozambique as a crucial trading partner which offers an abundance of business opportunities.

At the recent 6th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI) held in Nairobi, Kenya, JETRO Johannesburg found it crucial to sign a memorandum of understanding with Investment Promotion Centre (CPI) of Mozambique in order to collaborate on investment promotion between the two countries, it is at this signing that JETRO Johannesburg proudly volunteered to dispatch a dedicated Japanese expatriate to CPI as a temporary representative of JETRO in Mozambique. In November last year this partnership successfully organised a seminar on SME promotion policy in Mozambique.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, in honour of this admired relationship JETRO will be hosting a Mozambique- Japan Business Forum in Japan, this forum will be honoured by the attendance of H.E President of the Republic of Mozambique, Fillipe Jacint Nyusi who will deliver a keynote speech.

Some of the major topics for the business forum will include discussions of the investment climate and opportunities in Mozambique delivered by CPI and a JETRO presentation of the Mozambican economic overview and its current business environment.

It is JETRO’s aim to intensify business partnerships with Mozambique and it hopes to continue to successfully show off the investment attractiveness of this great country to the Japanese business community.
