Message from Governor of Hokkaido

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the seminar on Hokkaido’s potential for investment.

Hokkaido, which accounts for around a fifth of Japan’s total landmass, attracts large numbers of tourists and students from ASEAN countries including Singapore with its rich natural resources, delicious food and numerous hot springs as well as ski resorts.

As Singapore plays a key role in ASEAN countries as center, and its relationship with us is extremely important for us, Hokkaido government will open “the Hokkaido Government Representative Office Registered in Singapore” in January 2016.

Based on the current excellent relation with Singapore, we hope to further strengthen ties and promote more economic exchanges in the future.

Hokkaido has a great potential in a broad range of industries including tourism, food, agriculture, manufacturing, information and technology (IT) and healthcare.

With this background, in line with the opening of the the Hokkaido Government Representative Office Registered in Singapore, the Hokkaido government has planned a seminar to be held in Singapore (as detailed below), in order to promote Hokkaido’s appeal as an investment target, in addition to the sightseeing destination.

In this seminar, we will introduce Hokkaido’s investment climate and present case examples of  investment from Singapore to Hokkaido. We hope this seminar would be an opportunity for attendees to consider investment in the region and expand their businesses there.

We hope the event would be an ideal opportunity to strengthen the relationship between Singapore and Hokkaido and to develop together toward an exciting and prosperous future. Thank you very much for your kind consideration. We look forward to seeing you at the seminar.
